This Pulitzer-Prize-winning poetic play is set in the lush tropics of Florida in 1929 in a Cuban–American cigar factory. Cigars are still rolled by hand as the employees dream of Russia and a lector reads to them of snow and love as they work. They realize they are like characters in the novel as they allow the words of Anna Karenina to affect them and their thoughts turn to love and smoke-filled nights. Director: William Mittler
